Wokingham Liberal Democrats have succeeded in persuading the ruling Tories to expand the Council's "free parking for Christmas" plans. Usually, Council car parks are free for the three Saturdays preceding Christmas.
Councillor David Swindells (Lib Dem Councillor for Little Hungerford ward) said, "Earley Station car park and Winnersh Triangle Station car park were missing from the list. I asked at last week's Council meeting for these to be included in the "free parking" scheme, and I'm delighted that this has now been agreed. Many more people will be able to benefit from free parking now."
Councillor Prue Bray (Lib Dem Councillor for Winnersh ward) said, "I am pleased that pressure from David has succeeded. Free parking at Earley and Winnersh Triangle stations will reduce traffic congestion in our town centres by encouraging people to go by train to do their Christmas shopping. Anything to make the chore of Christmas shopping more enjoyable is very welcome, and free parking is just the ticket."
