Wokingham Lib Dem Group Welcome their newest Member, Malcolm Armstrong

There was an extra item on the agenda of the meeting of the Wokingham Liberal Democrat Councillor Group last night: Chairman, Councillor David Hare, welcomed Malcolm Armstrong to the Liberal Democrat ranks at Wokingham District Council.
Malcolm Armstrong gained the Council seat from the Tories in last week's by-election in Winnersh caused by the resignation of David Ball, the sitting Tory. Malcolm joins Prue Bray, who has been an active Winnersh councillor since the year 2000.
Aged 57, Malcolm has lived in Winnersh for 15 years with his wife, Jill, and their 6 children, twins aged 14, twins aged 27, one aged 30 and one aged 36. The younger twins attend Emmbrook School, as did the older twins. He is Dean of a local international college and also lectures in management subjects at a number of British universities. As a teacher at Bulmershe between 1969 and 1971, Malcolm is well-known in the area.
Councillor Armstrong said at the Group Meeting, "This is a fantastic win for the Lib Dems, and is a reflection of how hard Prue works for Winnersh. There was a swing of 11% to the Lib Dems in this by-election. If we were to achieve this swing in the next General Election, Prue Bray would be elected our Member of Parliament for Wokingham. She's the best person for the job."
Councillor Prue Bray replied, "I'm more than ready for that challenge. But right now Malcolm and I will be working as a team to make things better in Winnersh."
