Prue Bray has contacted the electricity distribution company on behalf of local residents and businesses, to ask them why there have been so many power cuts in Wokingham town centre and the surrounding area recently. She says "One week we get power cuts in one part of Wokingham, the next week we get them in another part. It just isn't good enough. As one resident said to me, it is like living in a third world country. I have been in touch with the electricity company to ask them what is going on. And, more importantly, what they are doing to stop it happening. When I find out I will let everybody know."
Councillor Bray believes it is particularly ironic that the town is experiencing power cuts just after being named by both Channel 4 and the Halifax as one of the best places to live in the country: "The people are lovely and, having been here nearly 20 years myself I wouldn't want to have to move, but Wokingham still has a long way to go in terms of facilities and living conditions. What with the housing pressures and the traffic, we definitely don't need problems with the electricity supply as well!"
