At last night's Wokingham District Council meeting at Shute End, Councillor Stephen Conway (Deputy Leader of the Lib Dem Councillor Group and Councillor for Twyford ward) urged Councillor Frank Browne, the Conservative Leader of the Council to end his involvement in Council discussions and decisions about the Elms Field development proposals.
Stephen Conway said, "Frank Browne works for a planning consultant (Green Issues) employed by one of the developers involved in the Elms Field proposals. Although Cllr Browne insists that his interest is "remote", it would be much better for him to keep out of any discussions and decision-making about Elms Field.
"If Councillor Browne thinks this is an issue that worries the Lib Dems only, then he is wrong. Many people in Wokingham are uncomfortable about what they perceive to be his personal interest in the development of Elms Field."
