Councillor Prue Bray attended the Elms Field workshop, run by Wokingham Borough Council, on Saturday 19th January.
Responding to the Wokingham Borough Council's press release about the event, Councillor Prue Bray (Leader of the Wokingham Borough Lib Dem Councillor Group and Councillor for Winnersh ward) said, "The press release left out two of the most important points that came out of the workshop.
"The first was that, in response to a large number of comments from the participants, the workshop facilitator suggested that any future public consultation should be about WHETHER large scale development should be taking place at all, as well as HOW it might be done.
"The other point was that the Council insisted that making money was not the driving force - contrary to what some Tory councillors announced last Autumn.
"The reason these two points are important is that if our residents say they don't want large scale development, the council can no longer argue that they have to build on Elms Field in order to make money. I hope the result of the workshop will be that the Conservatives listen to what residents said and take more account of what the public want."
