Wokingham Liberal Democrats are appalled at the way Wokingham Borough Council has treated Hurst Golf Club members.
Councillor Prue Bray (Leader of the Wokingham Borough Liberal Democrat Councillor Group and councillor for Winnersh ward) said, "The Council's decision to uproot the Hurst Golf Club has been handled abysmally. The club members have just been told that they have to vacate their club house by the end of the month. What's the rush?
"Hurst Golf Club has premises at Dinton Pastures. The Council is working up a 'vision' for the whole Dinton Pastures site, but a lot more has to happen before any of this becomes a reality. So why are the Council telling the Club to move now?
"The Golf Club is being forcibly rehoused in totally inadequate premises in Dinton Pastures, while a temporary marquee is being provided over winter for refreshments. Surely the council can do better than this! The Lib Dems will be asking the Tory Executive to come up with solutions to this unacceptable situation at their meeting on 30th October."
