Wokingham Lib-Dems press Tories for long-awaited Action on Play Areas
12.00.00pm GMT Fri 28th Mar 2008
At last night's Wokingham Borough council meeting, Cllr Stephen Conway (Deputy Leader of the Lib Dem Councillor Group and councillor for Twyford ward) pressed the Conservative administration to get a move on in dealing with the long-closed children's play area in Broad Hinton on the Waltham Chase Estate.
Cllr Conway said, "This play area has been closed for three years now, and residents have been waiting, with remarkable patience, for its equipment to be transferred to the other play area for older children, on the same estate.
"I was assured that a decision about the future of the play areas would be coming to this month's meeting of the Executive, but this did not happen. I have urged the Conservative councillors responsible both to explain this further delay and ensure that the matter is finally dealt with at the next Executive meeting in May.
"Residents have already waited three years for this - how much longer do they have to wait?"
