tives have failed us all. They have failed to implement any real flood prevention and mitigation measures, although they have kn own about key 'at flood risk' areas like the Showcase Cinema roundabout and surrounding area.

"The Budget for this coming financial year was set after this winter's flooding, but did not include any extra funding for flood prevention - yet another missed opportunity."

Cllr Prue Bray, leader of the Lib Dems added:

"The Conservative motion, whilst welcome, is too little too late. The Council commissioned a report on flooding as long ago as 2001. A new Flood Risk Management strategy (commissioned by the Overview and Scrutiny Panel in 2011) was finally due to go the Executive in January this year, but still hasn't appeared.

"If the Conservatives hadn't been so slow to make decisions and take action, the impact of this winter's flooding would not have been as bad. We urge the Conservatives to stop talking and do something to end this predictable misery for local residents."
