Steve Lambert Aylesbury

Steve Lambert said "The needs of residents in Aylesbury, Wendover, Aston Clinton and Stokenchurch are my top priority."

Steve Lambert said, "I am delighted to be selected once again as the Parliamentary Candidate for Aylesbury. In 2010 I stood for the first time and came second to Tory MP David Lidington. My campaign now, as then, will focus on local issues. The needs of residents in Aylesbury, Wendover, Aston Clinton and Stokenchurch are my top priority. They deserve better and the only way we are going to deliver a stronger economy and a fairer society, with opportunity for all, is by having me as the Liberal Democrat MP for the Aylesbury Constituency.

We currently have an MP who has never voted against HS2 and a UKIP candidate who has failed to match his rhetoric with action - he did not petition the Government about HS2 or vote against the project in the council chamber. I have petitioned against HS2 and voted against it at every opportunity. My challenge to David and Chris is clear - explain to residents what they have achieved for Aylesbury in the past 5 years."

Liberal Democrats have had a huge impact in Coalition Government.

· We said we would cut income tax - despite Cameron saying it couldn't be done. Income Tax has been cut for 51,000 local residents who received on average an £800 tax cut whilst 4100 low paid Aylesbury residents were taken out of paying tax altogether.

· We promised and delivered an increase in the basic state pension and we protected future increases.

· We promised to target funds at the most disadvantaged children with our Pupil Premium and delivered £7.129m straight into local classrooms and provided free school meals for the youngest 4400 primary school children in Aylesbury.

· We championed apprenticeships giving 3650 young people in Aylesbury more choice and an opportunity to train in their chosen career.

The Liberal Democrats have done all this whilst building a Stronger Economy. Labour can't be trusted to create a stronger economy whilst the Conservatives plan to make drastic cuts at a time when the recovery is still fragile. Only the Liberal Democrats can build a stronger economy and a fairer society with opportunity to all. I look forward to the campaign and giving Aylesbury residents a real alternative to the Conservatives."
