Lib Dems support action against Daesh (ISIL)

December 14, 2015 9:41 AM

Tim Farron MP Leader of the Liberal Democrats has backed the Prime Minister's call for action against Daesh (ISIL) in Syria as part of a wider package of measures to try and bring stability and an end to the long running civil war.

The Liberal Democrats believe that action, as part of a wider plan against Daesh is in our national interest, in defence of our allies namely France and Iraq and furthermore, that extreme Islamic fundamentalism as propagated by Daesh and their allies is a direct threat to Britain and its citizens. Seven major terrorist incidents have been thwarted by the security services in the UK this year.

Clive Jones, Liberal democrat Parliamentary spokesman for Wokingham says, "The decision every politician dreads is whether or not to send brave servicemen and women into military action in defence of our country. I believe it is right to support what is a measured, legal and broad-based international effort to tackle the evil regime that has contributed to the hundreds of thousands of desperate refugees, fleeing for their lives".
