Wokingham Lib Dems were out in force at last Saturdays "People's March" through Westminster to demand that the PEOPLE have the final say on the governments Brexit negotiations. About 30 Lib Dems form Wokingham were on the March. There were also people from Wokingham who don't belong to any political party.
Clive Jones, Deputy Leader of the Lib Dems on Wokingham Borough Council said, "There was a fantastic atmosphere on the march. It was incredible to see so people from all over the UK, from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Scotland, Shropshire, Kent, Wales, Hampshire, Cornwall, West Midlands, London and Berkshire.
Over 700,000 people have said we, the People, want the final say on the Brexit negotiations, Not the Conservative party which is being torn apart by Brexit".
Paul Fishwick, Lib Dem campaigner in Winnersh said, "I really enjoyed the march, I met so many people determined that our voice will be heard, including people who originally voted leave but now understand what the consequences are. The number of young people attending the march was incredible. Its these youngsters who are really annoyed that the Conservatives are not allowing them to have the final say on the deal negotiated by the Prime Minister".
Tahir Maher, Lib Dem campaigner in Maiden Erlegh said," Many people that I spoke to were really upset that Jeremy Corbyn was absent from the march and that he stopped any of his senior team from attending it. Young people in particular told me they felt very let down by Mr Corbyn who isn't providing any opposition to the government over Brexit. They are beginning to realise that Jeremy Corbyn is anti-European and always has been".
