Happy New Year!
2022 has been a busy year. We selected our candidate for the next general election. Clive Jones will be hard-working full-time MP Wokingham needs.
In May, Wokingham residents trusted us with control of the council.
Since then we have been working hard to maintain services, support the vulnerable and made sure the budget will balance, despite 10% inflation and real cuts in our spending power.
We have put more money into supporting our vulnerable residents, ensuring that there was funding for families where children receive free school meals. In addition to plugging the holes in our spending, such as the £1.3M extra needed to finish Winnersh Park and Ride.
We were able to do this because we worked in partnership with town and parish councils, the hardship alliance charities and voluntary bodies and local businesses.
We can achieve more together than we can on our own.
Thanks to our councillors and partners we have been able to save holiday free school meals, saved 18 bus routes, supported those in need with hardship funds, kept libraries open, improved bike parking, and lots more, while plugging the hole in our budget.
Thank you so much to all our residents, partners and councillors.
Let’s make 2023 even better!
