Layla Moran, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and International Development, visits Wokingham
Layla Moran, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and International Development, visited Wokingham yesterday to support Clive Jones and the Lib Dem campaign team in Wokingham.
Layla met with members of the Muslim community and discussed the Lib Dem position on the current conflict in Gaza. The Liberal Democrats have always stood in support of a lasting peace and a two-state solution in Israel and Palestine and were the first party to call for an immediate bilateral ceasefire. The humanitarian crisis is worsening and only a sustained political and diplomatic solution will resolve this conflict and deliver a lasting peace in the region for Palestinians and Israelis.
Layla also met with members of the local campaign team and spent some time canvassing and talking with residents in Winnersh.
Layla Moran, who is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Oxford West and Abingdon, said: “The same three issues keep coming up on the doorstep - the cost of living crisis, the NHS and a lack of ability to get GP appointments, and sewage.
“Voters who would usually support Labour or Green are lending Clive their vote as they realise the choice in Wokingham is between another Conservative or a fresh start with local champion, Clive Jones.”
Clive Jones, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Wokingham, said: “We were delighted to welcome Layla to Wokingham yesterday. She was given a warm welcome by campaigners and members of the community.
“She was clear that residents have an opportunity to vote for change here in Wokingham. Every vote will count here and I urge people to return their postal votes quickly, or vote in person on 4th July. I will be a hard-working local MP, who will fight for a fair deal for Wokingham.”
