Message from Wokingham's new MP
Firstly I'd like to say a huge thank you to the people of Wokingham who have put their trust in me and elected me to represent you in parliament as the first ever Liberal Democrat MP for Wokingham. Election night was an amazing experience and I'm humbled and grateful to have received a majority of 8,345 votes.
I could not have done this without the support of so many people who helped in so many ways - from delivering leaflets, to putting up posters and stake-boards, knocking on doors and so much more! I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every person who helped us achieve this historic victory.
I'm so proud of Wokingham and I'm ready to start the work of ensuring your voices are heard in Westminster. Both Wokingham and the country have sent a clear message that they are ready for change and want to start the process of tackling the problems left by successive Conservative governments.
I will be continuing to fight for the issues that you've told me are important to you. We need action on our new Royal Berkshire hospital, Thames Water needs to be held to account and to stop dumping sewage in our rivers, and we need to make sure those impacted most in this cost-of-living crisis are supported.
Whoever you voted for in this General Election, I promise to be a strong voice in Parliament on the issues that matter to you. Our country has some deep-seated problems that will take time to solve, but from day 1, my Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will be getting straight to work, ensuring we hold this new Labour government to account and fighting for a fair deal for everyone.
Thank you.
Clive Jones, Member of Parliament for Wokingham
