Clive Jones, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Wokingham says, "John Redwood is standing down because he knew he wasn’t going to win at the general election on 4th July.

"People in Wokingham want change - they’ve been telling me this on the doorstep for the last 3 years and the local election results this year were clear. The Lib Dems received 47% of the votes in the Wokingham constituency compared to 35% for the Conservatives.

"I’m best placed to deliver the change local residents want to see. I will be a hard-working, full-time MP for Wokingham, fighting for a fair deal for Wokingham residents and prioritising the issues that they have told me matter most to them: fixing the NHS, tackling the cost-of-living crisis and stopping the dumping of raw sewage in our rivers.

"After 14 years of failed Conservative government it’s time for change and only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives in Wokingham.

"John Redwood joins a growing band of Conservative MP's right across the blue wall who are standing down because they're worried about losing their seats to Liberal Democrats".
