Your Liberal Democrat candidates for Evendons
Your three Liberal Democrat councillors for Evendons are:
Mark Ashwell
Executive Member for Economic Development, Sport, Leisure and the Arts
I have lived, worked, and played in Wokingham for over 45 years. We raised our three sons here and now they are raising our 5 grandchildren. I am proud to have served our community in Education, Business and Government throughout that time. From being Chairman of Governors of Emmbrook Junior School in the 90s to being President of The Wokingham Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Wokingham Town Council Amenities in more recent times.
I am patron of Wokingham’s disabled children’s charity Building for The Future
My business has traded in Wokingham Borough for over 30 years as a very proud part of our community.
I am extremely proud to be President of Wokingham’s Football Club where, as well as the seniors, we accommodate over a thousand boys and girls of all ages and abilities in the playing of our national sport. We are the town's team.
I passionately believe that we need a liberal society for capitalism to work for all.

We came to Wokingham 25 years ago and lived in Woosehill. Since 2003 we have lived on the Reading Road. Our children all went to local schools and attended all manner of local sporting and social facilities. We go to a local church each weekend.
Since 2019 I have been a local Town Councillor for Evendons and also a Borough Councillor. I have a keen interest in health, being part of the Health committee for the past 6 years. I want to continue the work to understand more about the NHS and local delivery of health services to our residents.
I am proud of the achievements of the Lib Dems since we became the leading party in Wokingham Borough in 2022. We have campaigned against the central government housing targets, supported bus provision, purchased a new care home and provided additional school places for SEND students, as well as many other notable achievements. I want to be part of the continuing work to make Wokingham Borough a great place to live.
Lou Timlin
I have lived in Evendons for 20 years and it’s been a fantastic place to bring up my two children.
Our community really matters to me. During the COVID pandemic I dusted off my sewing machine and made over 300 masks for local residents. I also volunteered at the COVID Community Hub, ensuring vulnerable members of our community were able to access food and other services.
Following a 30 year career in pharmaceutical research, I spent time volunteering in a local charity and as a COVID vaccinator. I’m also a Town Councillor and a parent governor at the Holt School.
All of these experiences help me understand the needs of people in our community and give me the drive to ensure no one is left behind.
I’ve successfully campaigned on issues related to violence against women and girls, and I’m delighted that the Liberal Democrat led council in Wokingham has implemented a strategy aiming to stop all forms of violence against women, and is providing improved services and resources which make a real difference. It's important to me that everyone in our community feels listened to, and that councillors work as a team to solve the issues important to residents.
