When Clive ran Wokingham Borough Council, he introduced measures such as holiday food vouchers for children in poverty, and a £250,000 hardship fund which has been used to help those who need it most in our borough.
The hardship fund Clive introduced while leader of Wokingham Borough council was used for funding for long-term, high-value projects to tackle the root causes of poverty in the area. Including investing £60,000 in the Winter Warmers project to provide energy-saving equipment for residents living on low incomes, saving them £1.2m on their energy bills.
It provided the initial funding for a community pantry run by our voluntary and community sector partners, to ensure that residents living on the lowest incomes can afford a healthy diet.
Clive also made sure that children in poverty had vouchers to pay for lunches in the holidays.
The Liberal Democrats have a great range of policies to tackle the cost of living crisis. You can read more here:

The strategy aims to ensure the right homes are built in the right places and increase the quality and quantity of affordable housing in the Borough.
In February last year, Wokingham Borough Council established a Hardship Fund of £250,000 to tackle the root causes of poverty in our Borough by funding a number of longer term projects.
Over the last two years, Wokingham Borough Council has seen its costs rise enormously, as inflation has increased and demand for statutory services, especially in adult and children’s social care, has grown.
The cost of living crisis means that many of our residents will sadly find it difficult to just pay for the basic essentials this Christmas.
We live in difficult times. Inflation and high interest rates are affecting many people.
