The Liberal Democrat leader of Wokingham Borough Council, Cllr Stephen Conway, has highlighted the financial challenges for the council in the coming years, whilst commending councillors and officers for delivering a robust budget for 2024-2027.
On Sunday 18th Feb, I spent most of the day in Wokingham Town Centre with a lot of other residents to enjoy the celebrations of the Lunar New Year. The town was absolutely buzzing and places selling food and drink were packed.

In 2019 the Conservative government promised 40 new hospitals by 2030 with a new Royal Berks to be one of them. They have not delivered on this promise – in fact we are told that rather than opening by 2030 work may not even have started by then.
The government has announced that it will provide £418,000 of “resurfacing funds” to Wokingham to be spent on road maintenance. This fund is no where near enough to make up for their past underfunding.
