Plans to build Arborfield Green’s first new supermarket have been given the all-clear. The council has approved Sainsbury’s proposal for a 2,349 sq m store off Nine Mile Ride Extension and Sheerlands Road, which will be part of a larger district centre.
Over the last two years, Wokingham Borough Council has seen its costs rise enormously, as inflation has increased and demand for statutory services, especially in adult and children’s social care, has grown.
The Liberal Democrat leader of Wokingham Borough Council, Cllr Stephen Conway, has highlighted the financial challenges for the council in the coming years, whilst commending councillors and officers for delivering a robust budget for 2024-2027.
On Sunday 18th Feb, I spent most of the day in Wokingham Town Centre with a lot of other residents to enjoy the celebrations of the Lunar New Year. The town was absolutely buzzing and places selling food and drink were packed.
To be elected to serve as a councillor is a great privilege. Councillors can make a real difference to their communities. They can act as local champions, defending and promoting the interests of the people they represent.
The UK must once again stand tall, leading on the world stage and working closely with those who share our interests – including, above all, our partners in Europe.
No child should ever have to experience sexual abuse. These are horrifying crimes that cause so much harm to the children who are victims. We will keep up the pressure so that the action needed to make our communities safe all children finally happens.
